16 November, 2019, Dhoraji, Gujarat: Gemcorp in collaboration with the Material Recycling Association of India (MRAI) addressed about 300 delegates present at the conference at Dhoraji, Gujarat. The special address was by Shri Kashi Nath Jha, Joint Secretary, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals. The conference was followed by lunch and a plant visit.
The main agenda of this conference was to recognise the contribution made by the recycling industry for nation building and to understand the challenges being faced by the industry. Gemcorp highlighted how the plastic industry can unite to create a healthy and safe working environment by encouraging use of personal protective equipment like gloves and masks at waste collection points. Also, importance of maintenance of proper documentation for compliance with regulatory framework such as maintaining inward and outward registers, GST certificate, wherever applicable, payroll register, ensuring adherence to labour laws, Minimum Wages Act, importance of taking an insurance cover, etc. were stressed upon.
At the end of the session, Shri Kashi Nath Jha expressed his views and touched upon the challenges/issues being faced by the industry. In addition to Gemcorp, GDB International Inc., The Shakti Plastic Industries, Ala Group and Recykal were the other organisations that participated.
